The WHISPERED or Interpretation whispered is a type of interpreting similar to simultaneous interpreting. Whispered interpreting consists of interpreting (translating) a speaker's speech directly to the listener interested in the translation. This type of interpreting (oral translation) takes place in real time: while the speaker is speaking, the interpreter whispers the content of the speech or conversation into the listener's ear. As in the case of simultaneous interpreting, liaison interpreting is carried out without interrupting the communication, which does not increase the total duration of the intervention.
Another advantage is that it does not require the use of technical equipment (headsets, interpreting booths, etc.) to carry out the translation work, which is more economical. As this type of interpreting is transmitted in a very low, whispered voice, it is advisable to use as few receivers as possible, never more than two or three, so as not to affect the quality of the interpretation.
